Hey all
This is kinda a warning and a cry for help, all in one. About a week ago I found a VX2000 on ebay, and won the auction. I'd always told myself not to bid for a camera outside the UK, so that I could drive to collect it. However, for some odd reason I went against this, and sent my money abroad to pay for the camera. I was told by the seller that he would post it straight away, but since then he hasn't replied to any of my emails and I doubt I will ever see my money or VX2000! Be careful - This guy seemed genuine and reliable.
The problem is, now I'm stuck with a film which begins filming on the 1st July, a debt of hundreds of pounds and an income of less than ?200/month...Oh and did I mention NO CAMERA. We've got quite a lot of interest in the film including an American band willing to compose and perform music for the soundtrack. Does anyone know where I can get funding or help from. I've heard that the art colleges and film groups are not really worth bothering with.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

If you've got his address I'd quite gladly go and steal it off him for you.

Actually I do have his address. I sent the money via Western Union. The strange thing is I don't know whether the address is real, becasue I keep searching for the street on multimap.com and it won't find it!
And I might just take you up on your offer Mods!
Regards

shite, thats bad...
try your local film and video access centre or cine society - youll find details about these in What Camcorder
or
go to www.firstlightmovies.com part of the Film Council who support young film makers esp. 14 - 18 yr olds, but you have to be part of a group... or try www.firstfilm.co.uk they are a charity offering help for senior film makers
if i lived near you i would offer my camera and services
best of luck

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you loose mate?
I've been using ebay for ages and have been skanked once, but it was only for a couple of quid - anyway the fucker is now official banned
I never buy anything from abroad, even if the seller has good feedback...its to easy to scam people on a different continent...your comeback is practically none-existent.
Bad luck dude.
